Carolyn A Pappas

I’m an artist drawn to the beauty of God’s creation in the natural world. My work focuses on botanical subjects, landscapes, and small nature objects. I especially love painting flowers! I create my work on paper using pencils, pen and ink, and watercolor. In the past few years, I have also begun to create artwork digitally on the Procreate app on iPad and I have enjoyed the challenge of learning this new medium.

I love to travel to various botanical gardens and nature preserves and take snapshots of everything I find. Over the years, I have learned to identify several different types of plants, and I’m always trying to learn to identify more. Oftentimes, I use these reference photos in my work even years later, and working from them brings back wonderful memories of past travels.

Translating nature into a hand drawn image is a deeply calming and relaxing process for me. Spending time with these subjects helps ease anxiety and brings a sense of grounding in the middle of everyday life. Through my art, I hope that same feeling of calm also uplifts your spirit.
